Club Championship 2025 – 2026

Rules Summary

  • A 7-round classical tournament for all club members
  • Time control is 60 + 10, starting with 60 minutes with an increment of 10 seconds from move 1
  • One round will be played each month of the season (except December)
  • Accelerated swiss system will be used to make the pairings for each round
  • Games will start at 7:15pm upstairs at McNeills (until further notice)
  • Players can take an unlimited number of byes; a 1/2 point will be awarded for the first 2 you take (no points available for round 7 byes)

A google form will be sent out prior to each round, if you need to take a bye for any round, you must inform us prior to the pairings being made.

Pairings for each round are announced live at the club by Jordan on the dates stated. They will subsequently be posted on the website and you will receive an email with details of your pairing and when your game has been scheduled based on your availability.

Members who default games (by no-show) can be removed from the championship by the committee.

If games cannot be scheduled for a QPCC club night, they should ideally be played at another chess club. Contact the committee to arrange if required.
