About
Queens Park Chess Club is considering entering multiple teams into the Scottish National Chess League.
This is a classical chess competition featuring clubs across Scotland. Clubs can put forward teams of five to compete over five separate national divisions.
For the 2022/23 season, there are seven rounds, running from January to April. The time control is 90+30 (90 minutes per player plus 30 second increment per move). There are two games per day, starting at 10am and 3pm, over four Sunday match dates. All games will take place in the same venue: Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline, Fife.
As a first time entrant, any Queens Park teams will enter the league at the bottom, Division Five, where we understand typical opposition ratings are in the region of 1100-1600.
All abilities are welcome to represent Queens Park in the National League, which we hope will provide rewarding and enjoyable competitive opportunities for members, regardless of experience. Please complete the form below if you would like to register as a player on any or all of the match dates.
We are also looking for team captains and drivers. Captain duties include communicating with team-mates ahead of fixtures, contacting reserve players as required, and completing team-sheets during game days. Drivers are asked to provide transport to and from Dunfermline for a team of five (including the driver) during match days, from a Queens Park pickup location.
The four match dates are:
- Sunday 29 Jan 2023 (rounds 1 & 2)
- Sunday 26 Feb 2023 (rounds 3 & 4)
- Sunday 19 Mar 2023 (rounds 5 & 6)
- Sunday 16 Apr 2023 (round 7)
Please complete the following short form before the end of 2022 if you would like to participate.
